Saver Menu Deals: How to Actually Get the Best Value

Saver menus exist for a reason: they’re the fastest way to eat well without overspending. But not every “deal” is actually a good one once you compare it item-by-item — here’s how to tell the difference.

What makes a saver menu item genuinely good value

The best saver menu picks usually hit two things at once: a low price and a reasonable calorie count for that price, so you’re not just getting a small amount of food cheaply — you’re getting a filling amount of food cheaply.

Common traps to watch for

  • “Deal” framing doesn’t always mean cheapest – sometimes a bundled saver meal costs more than picking two standalone saver items separately.
  • Drinks inflate the perceived value – a free or discounted drink in a bundle can make the total feel like a bargain even if the food portion is small.
  • Regional pricing affects saver menus too – a saver item that’s a great deal in one city might be a few pence more expensive elsewhere, changing the maths slightly.

A simple way to compare deals

Before ordering, it helps to mentally split any bundled deal into its individual components and check what each would cost separately. If the bundle isn’t at least 10–15% cheaper than buying the pieces individually, it’s often not worth choosing over building your own order.

Best times to use the saver menu

  • Solo meals – saver menus are usually most cost-effective for a single person eating alone rather than families (see our family deal guide for that comparison).
  • Top-up orders – adding a saver side to an existing order is often cheaper than upgrading to a full meal.
  • App promotions – saver pricing is sometimes undercut further by rotating app-exclusive offers, so it’s worth checking before you commit to the standard saver menu.
